Below are some useful links and information (DSA links and telephone numbers at the bottom of the page)

When looking for a Driving Instructor, questions you may wish to ask.

1. Driving Instructor Name?
2. ADI Number?
3. Fully Qualified?
4. How long Qualified?
5. Full time or Part time?
6. Trainee?
7. Individual Driving Instructors Pass Rate?
    a. You will need to establish if they are using the DSA period of April to March or calendar year of January to December.
    b. You can contact the DSA using the ADI’s number and name to confirm the claimed figure.
    c. One Instructor claims 100% pass rate even though not all pass first time? As long as their pupil starts and passes with them, that is claimed as 100% pass? Even though their pupil may have failed any number of times before that. CHECK WITH THE DSA.
8. Cost of lessons following any promotional discount?

Should you have a concern or problem with any Driving Instructor or School, do approach them first to resolve the situation.

Any good Driving Instructor/School would wish to be able to sort things out with you, to a mutually satisfactory conclusion.

Failing this, one of our members will act as mediator on your behalf.

In the event that this approach also fails, we will offer advice and help, on a more formal and official approach, to the relevant authorities.

We monitor any reported bad practices conducted by any Local Driving Instructor or Driving School, to ensure that they do not become, or remain members of the Association.

Some of those reported so far are: -
1. Not turning up for a booked lesson and not being informed.
2. Stopping for a paper, coffee or burger during lesson time.
3. Taking long telephone calls (15 minutes) and then taking a detour to collect some papers.
4. Ending the lesson 15 minutes early.
5. Endless chatter about their problems.
6. Getting you to book your test when obviously not ready and then not turning up for lessons leading up to that test, forcing you to look for an alternative trainer, or rescheduling the test.
7. A trainee or newly qualified Driving Instructor, not experienced enough to deal with an unexpected situation. For example, such an instructor recently ended up with the young lady driving, putting the car in to a ditch. Thankfully, the driver and instructor survived. A more experienced Instructor would be in a much better position to prevent such a situation developing.
