CAR
DRIVING LICENCE FIRST OBTAINED SINCE
1st JANUARY 1997
- the Driver
may drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes with a trailer up to 750kgs Maximum
Authorised Mass (MAM) (total weight). For towing a
braked trailer over 750kgs MAM, the MAM of the trailer must not exceed the un-laden
weight of the towing vehicle and the fully laden weight of both car and trailer must not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM.
From
2012, on completion of some training, it is proposed that the MAM be increased
to 4.25 tonnes.
For
a heavier combination, the driver will have to take an additional driving test
to qualify for the B+E entitlement. This will allow a total combination weight
of 8.25 tonnes.
